LEONARDO BRUNI ARETINO (1374-1444), escritor, político, filólogo,
filósofo, historiador, profesor de retórica, traductor, es considerado
the most talented and versatile of the young men belonged to
Coluccio Salutati’s circle in the years around 1400. […] And,
one of the first of Petrarch’s followers to possess a real
knowledge of Greek, he helped to turn the humanist movement
toward that interest in Hellenism which was to have such
important effects on the evolution of European thought (Seigel

SOBRE TRADUCCIÓN – TEORÍAS FORMALES
Ut pictura poesis (Ars poetica, v. 361), “como la pintura es la poesía”,
repetía Horacio según un pensamiento que venía desde los tiempos de
Aristóteles (Poética, VI, 15; XV, 14; XXVI, 2), y que en el Renacimiento
volvió a ser un lugar común. Ya en los comienzos del siglo XV escribía
Bartolommeo Fazio, “Un cuadro no es más que un poema silencioso” (apud

Pese a que el Tostado sea tomado por un autor medieval, presenta en su
obra rasgos humanísticos (Pérez González 1999: 49), incluso en su concepción
de traducción. Su defensa de una traducción palabra por palabra, podría
situarlo, evalúa Pérez González, en el literalismo de la Baja Edad Media, pero
